Sky-high prices and enthusiasm: the scalper war behind BLACKPINK’s Hong Kong concert ticket prices
As K-pop sweeps the world, BLACKPINK, as a top girl group, has become a “luxury” in the eyes of Hong Kong fans. In 2025, from member JISOO’s personal fan meeting to the group’s world tour in Hong Kong, the ticket battlefield was filled with smoke, and the game between scalpers and fans intensified.
- JISOO’s personal fan meeting: a fan feast of HK$788 to HK$1988
In March 2025, JISOO landed at the Hong Kong AsiaWorld-Expo Arena as an individual, bringing fans a two-night “LIGHTS, LOVE, ACTION!” fan meeting. According to official information, the ticket price structure is distributed in a stepped manner:
Ticket type | Price (HKD) | Remarks |
---|---|---|
VIP | 1988 | Highest level ticket |
CAT1 | 1688 | |
CAT2 | 1388 | |
CAT3 | 1088 | |
CAT4 | 988 | |
CAT5 | 788 | Cheapest ticket |
Wheelchair area | 1388 | Purchase with ID required |
Although the lowest ticket price is only HKD 788, it is extremely difficult to grab tickets in reality – the tickets were quickly sold out after the Klook platform opened at 12 noon on March 6, and a large number of fans turned to the second-hand market, causing the scalper price to soar. Some fans revealed that the VIP ticket, which was originally priced at HKD 1988, was sold at 2-3 times the original price, and they had to bear the risk of fake tickets.
- BLACKPINK World Tour: Unannounced “futures tickets” have been hyped up to 5,000 yuan
On January 24-25, 2026 (although it is 2026, the ticket sales will be held in 2025), all BLACKPINK members will land at Kai Tak Sports Park to hold the final stop of the “DEADLINE” tour. Although the organizer Live Nation has not yet announced the official ticket price as of the end of May 2025, the market has gone crazy:
- Scalpers sell “booking” services in advance: On platforms such as Carousell, sellers offer so-called “pre-order” services at a high price of HK$5,000 per ticket, and even sell Weverse membership accounts (HK$50-200), claiming that they can obtain priority ticket purchase qualifications.
- Historical ticket price reference: The most expensive VIP ticket for the 2023 “BORN PINK” Hong Kong show is HK$2,999 (including rehearsal party and peripheral benefits), and ordinary tickets start at HK$799. At that time, the first row of tickets was sold for 110,000 Hong Kong dollars, which caused public outrage.
- Four-stage ticket sales mechanism:
▶︎ June 10: Weverse members have priority purchase (registration required from May 27 to June 1)
▶︎ June 11: Exclusive for VISA cardholders (Infinite card morning session, all VISA card afternoon session)
▶︎ June 12: Trip.com users have priority purchase
▶︎ June 13: Full public sale
- Scalper industry chain: technical crushing and platform supervision dilemma
The extreme imbalance between demand and supply has spawned a gray industry chain:
- Technical grabbing: Scalpers use automated programs (Bot) to sweep away a large number of tickets at the moment of ticket opening. During the group concert in 2023, fans waited for 1 hour because the official website crashed, and finally returned empty-handed.
- Member account reselling: Weverse BLINK membership is an official anti-scalping measure, but it is sold publicly at a price of 50-200 Hong Kong dollars, and even a “member sharing” service (charging 150 Hong Kong dollars) has appeared.
- Lack of platform response: Although Carousell has stated that it prohibits high-priced resale and removes products from the shelves, the actual effect is limited. Fans call for the imitation of Taiwan’s real-name system, that is, scalper tickets will be invalidated and resold.
- Ticket purchase survival guide: How to break through the ticket battlefield
Facing a complex ticket purchase environment, music fans need to make strategic arrangements:
- Lock on official channels: Group tickets are only sold through Cityline, and JISOO fan meetings are designated by Klook.
- Beware of the “prepayment” trap: Anyone who requires advance transfer and cannot provide tickets is a high-risk transaction.
- Make good use of priority channels: Complete Weverse membership verification as soon as possible (ends on June 1), or bind a VISA card/Trip.com account.
- Rights protection awareness: If you encounter scalpers, you can report to the platform and save evidence. The Hong Kong Consumer Council will accept relevant complaints.
When the enthusiasm of “BLINK” (BLACKPINK fans) encounters the sniping of capital, a ticket is not only about music consumption, but also a battle for resources. With 35,000 tickets (estimated) for the Kai Tak venue about to go on sale, a new round of ticket rush may set a new record for the Hong Kong performance market – after all, for many people, this may be the last chance to see the “BLACKPINK” reunion.
